Tri-M Meeting Dates 2023-2024
Welcome to WV's Tri-M Music Honor Society landing page. WV Tri-M is the service organization for the Music department and community. Purple-shirted 10-12th grade Tri-M members can be observed handing out programs at WV and our feeder middle/elementary schools, performing at local senior citizen centers, setting up for Prism, advocating for school music with younger students, and more. Students in Tri-M must have an overall 3.0 GPA, be maintaining a B or A in their music class, attend monthly meetings at 7am on Wednesdays in the Auditorium and have the recommendation of a staff member of the music department. More info about joining Tri-M will be posted in student's curricular music Google Classroom - application deadline is in early September. Induction Ceremony is Oct. 5 in the Auditorium.

About Tri-M at WVHS

Any 10th, 11th or 12th grader with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, enrolled in choir, orchestra or band, maintaining a 3.0 GPA and at least a B in their music class can apply to be a member of the nationally recognized Tri-M honor society. There is a nominal membership fee that covers pin, patch or chord that's received at the end of the year. Members will need to have a purple Tri-M shirt to wear when serving in official functions (ushering, guiding, etc...) - the shirt design will remain the same year to year. Members are required to attend Wednesday morning meetings (1 or 2 per month), usher at concerts, and assist in at least one Tri-M event like Prism decoration set up or tear down or Fine Arts Festival guides. Tri-M members will also have an opportunity to be ambassadors at their previous middle or elementary school to assist with concerts. At the induction ceremony in September, Tri-M invites an area professional musician or educator as the designated Honoree. Tri-M members received points when they perform in groups outside of Waubonsie Valley High School (for example, a church group or youth symphony) and have opportunities to perform for the Waubonsie community and greater Aurora/Naperville community by performing in Tri-M recitals and concerts.

Waubonsie Valley is proud to have a large chapter of the National Association for the Education of Music (NAfME)'s Music Honor Society - Tri-M. The 3 "M's" in Tri-M stand for Modern Music Master. Students in grades 10-12 enrolled in choir, band and/or orchestra are welcome to join this Honor Society. Tri-M's mission at Waubonsie is to better the music community by having music students serve audiences and faculty by performing, ushering for concerts, assisting at area music events, and by celebrating music at Waubonsie. Tri-M members usher at all Waubonsie choir, band and orchestra concerts and send ambassadors down to middle and elementary schools for their concerts. Tri-M members also set up and tear down the beautiful decorations for the annual Prism Concert in December, help out at Solo and Ensemble Festival and Fine Arts Festival..
