Audition Information for Wind Symphony & Wind Ensemble
Auditions for the 2024-2025 WVHS Wind Ensemble & Wind Symphony will be submitted via video by Monday, January 29, 2024. Please use the Audition Submission link posted above to submit a link to your video file from Google Drive. Be sure your sharing settings are set so anyone with the link can view your video.
Video Recording Instructions:
1. Be sure your face and instrument are clearly shown.
2. Check the quality of video and audio so you submit your best sound.
3. Record in a quiet place with no distractions.
4. All percussionists should perform only Snare Drum and Keyboard etudes, and performances should be on real instruments. No practice pads, please.
5. Please record a separate video for each portion of your audition. You may record as many times as you want, but the video must be unedited.
6. Absolutely no audio editing is allowed. The audio must be from the same recording as your video.
7. When you have finished recording all portions of your audition, please submit your videos through the link above. Again, be sure your videos are in Google Drive and are shared for anyone with the link.
Good luck - Thanks for auditioning!
Additional Audition Information:
Please remember that students are not required to audition to be in band. Incoming freshmen finishing 8th grade band should automatically enroll in Concert Band. Current freshmen should register for Symphonic Band. Current sophomores and juniors should register for the band class they are currently in. We will adjust rosters with guidance after auditions. Only those band students who wish to be considered for Wind Ensemble & Wind Symphony need to audition.
1. All interested students should click on this Audition Procedures link and read those instructions carefully.
2. Click on the link for your instrument below to download the appropriate scale sheet and audition etudes. This material comes from the ILMEA District 9 Audition Set 3. For WVHS auditions, students are only required to prepare the etude sections that are marked with large black brackets.
Please be sure you print two etudes and a scale sheet. If you have any questions regarding auditions, please contact one of the WVHS band directors.
Students planning to audition for ILMEA in October of 2024 are encouraged to double check the official ILMEA Set 3 Etude List as that audition requires larger portions of these etudes, often the entire etude.
SPECIAL NOTE: ILMEA is currently preparing NEW ETUDES for the Fall of 2024. We will post those as soon as they are available. However, we will leave the Set 3 full etudes here as well in case the new etudes are not ready in time for ILMEA auditions.
