We encourage any interested student to prepare seriously and take the audition. You must have the following prepared:

2023-24 ILMEA Jazz Audition requirements include:
All jazz auditions: Thy Neighbor from Naylor (Excerpts listed below), Friends by Jim Snidero (3 choruses w/backing track), F Blues (3 choruses of Billie's Bounce - melody is not part of the audition assessment.)
Jazz Combo Auditions Must Also Prepare: A minimum of TWO choruses of Bb Rhythm Changes from Aebersold’s volume 47, track 13. There are no additional tunes to prepare for the combo audition.
Drummers: Alternate 4 bars of time and 4 bars of solo for 3 choruses. Drums will also perform the following grooves: swing (fast or slow), Latin (samba or bossa), brushes (med swing or ballad), and funk.
