Audition Information for Wind Symphony & Wind Ensemble
Auditions for the 2018-2019 WVHS Wind Ensemble & Wind Symphony will take place on Monday, January 29, 2018. Please remember that students are not required to take an audition to be in band. Incoming freshmen finishing 8th grade band should automatically enroll in Concert Band. Band students in grades 10-12 should enroll in Symphonic Band, unless already placed in Wind Symphony or Wind Ensemble. Only those band students who wish to be considered for Wind Ensemble & Wind Symphony need to audition.
To register for an audition, please follow these three steps:
1. All interested students should click on this Audition Procedures link and read those instructions carefully.
2. Click here to complete the online registration form.
3. Click on the link below for your instrument to download the appropriate scale sheet and audition etudes. This material comes from the ILMEA District 9 Audition Set 3. For WVHS auditions, students are only required to prepare the etude sections that are marked with large black brackets. Students planning to audition for ILMEA in October of 2018 are encouraged to double check the official ILMEA Set 3 Etude List as that audition typically requires larger portions of these etudes, if not the entire etude.
Please be sure you print the etudes and a scale sheet. These are two separate links. You should not see large black lines covering up the music. If you do, please try downloading the document before printing. Contact your director if that does not resolve the issue.
